Design Night: Sheffield – Make it Global
Technology is changing how we make anything
The future of making is here. New technology is radically changing what’s possible, disrupting every industry. From architecture and construction to manufacturing and media, individuals and small teams now compete on a global playing field.
Sheffield is a city known for innovation, and ideas that travel the world: from stainless steel to streets in the sky, synth pop to Sean Bean. Today, Sheffield is at the forefront of advanced manufacturing. It’s where global engineering and aerospace firms make their home, and product design startups conquer the world.
Twenty years ago, an idea for 3D software called Navisworks was born in Sheffield that revolutionised the way buildings are made. Ten years ago, it became a key part of an international brand. Join us as we celebrate the past, present and future of making, in all its forms.
